Record medal haul for India in Asian Games history
By far, the XVIth Asian Games in Guangzhou have been the best for India till date which indicates that India is on the right track and emerging out of the shadow of cricket.
INDIA WON four gold medals on the ultimate day on Friday at the ongoing XVIth Asian Games here and in the process created history  by winning an all-time highest medal haul in the Games history! India surpassed the record of 57 medals achieved at the 1982 Asian Games of 53 medals.


On Friday, India got two gold medals in kabaddi, as both the men and women's teams expectedly maintained their supremacy, and the third gold medal came in women’s 4x400 metre relay race. Later in the day, ace boxer Vijender Singh got India its second gold medal in boxing and 14th overall.


The kabaddi teams had comparatively easy outings winning expected gold medals. In athletics Indians continued to perform well with women’s relay team winning gold whereas long distance runners Preeja Sreedharan and Kavita Raut won the silver and bronze medals respectively in the women's 5000 m event. The same pair had won gold and silver in the 10, 000 metre race earlier, but couldn’t repeat the feat today.


India had some unexpected results with a couple of unexpected bronze medals in Rollersports when Anup Kumar Yama won one in men's single free skating before combining with Avani Panchal to finish third in the pairs skating event. On the flip side it was disappointment for triple jumper Ranjit Maheshwari, a gold prospect, when he finished fourth in his event.


By far, the XVIth Asian Games in Guangzhou has been the best for India till date which indicates thet India is on right track and emerging out of the shadow of cricket!


India’s total medal count is 64 which comprises of 14 Gold, 17 Silver and 33 Bronze medals.
