Red Drive promoting blood donation in Gurgaon
The words, "tears of mother can not save her child, but your blood can," rings quite true for everyone. Keeping in with the thought and in an attempt to promote voluntary blood donation among masses, Gurgaon's Artemis Hospital has dedicated the entire February to the campaign, "The Red Drive".

The aim of the Red Drive is to encourage and sensitize individuals, especially youths about voluntary blood donation.

Known as "The Red Drive," this is taking place in Artemis Gurgaon and everyone is welcome to be a part of it. As many of us must have heard, blood donation not only helps the receiver but enhances the health of the donor as well.

Blood transfusion can be a life saving intervention. It is important therefore that the quality and safety of blood must be assured throughout the process from the selection of blood donors through to their administration to the patient.

This requires donors to be between 18 and 65 years, weighing above 45 kg, haemoglobin above 12.5 gm and in a state of physical fitness. The safety is further assured by antibody screening and testing for transfusion transmissible infections. Only rational use of blood is advocated to ensure effectiveness.
