IN BANGKOK, the anti-government demonstrators defying the emergency measures have decided to stage a mass rally in the capital. Thai Prime Minister declared the emergency on Wednesday (April 7), night after protesters stormed into parliament.
The ‘Red Shirt’ demonstrators seem to dare the government and have planned a mass rally on Friday (April 9).
The emergency was clamped by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva when protesters charged into Parliament and forced lawmakers and senior officials to flee and get evacuated by helicopter.
The Red Shirts have demanded that PM Abhisit dissolve parliament within 15 days and call new elections. Instead, the PM has offered to hold elections by the end of the year.
