Redknapp likely to succeed Fabio Capello as England Football coach
Capello has resigned as the manager of England's National Football team. Harry Redknapp, the manager of the EPL side, Tottenham Hotspur is most likely to succeed him. Stripping John Terry of captaincy is seen as the trigger for capello's resignation after almost four-year tenure.

WITH JUST around four months left for the prestigious Euro 2012 to start, Fabio Capello shocked the entire world by resigning from his position as the manager of the England National Football team. He had shown his dissatisfaction in public when John Terry was stripped of the captaincy arm band, which was not very well received by the Italian. This is what had basically triggered Capello to resign.

Everybody was pleased when Capello took charge of the English team in December 2007. English FA had great expectations that he would bring laurels to the country. In a meeting with same English FA at Wembley stadium, Capello chose to call it a day, reported AP.

Capello had taken up this job after managing high profile clubs such as Milan, Real Madrid, Roma, and Juventus. So, it was another feather in his cap just to manage a team, which comprised of superstars. But he had a similar experience of managing a team of superstars, Real Madrid, so, the job wasn’t much different. But, with the England national team, came a sense of national duty, which was absent with Madrid. It also meant pressure to perform. A look at his record with English reflects his high winning percentage of 66.67%. During his tenure of around 4 years with English team, he only lost six matches, drew 8 and won an impressive 28 matches.

Capello’s resignation would open the doors for Harry Redknapp, who has been in the queue for a long time. Being English, his presence might make things easier for everyone, including the players and the association. Players like Rooney are keen on Redknapp, as was suggested by his tweet: "Gutted capello has quit. Good guy and top coach. Got to be English to replace him. Harry Redknapp for me”. So will he be the person who will take the English team to Euro 2012 championships? Redknapp must be keeping his fingers crossed along with many of his fans. Capello was given a contract of GBP 6 million per year. His contract was scheduled to expire after Euro 2012 reported AFP, but he did not wait for it, instead bid adieu to the team.
