Reebok's brand image takes a beating
Reebok had introduced EasyTone and RunTone shoes in the market few years back. The shoe making company had promised that the shoe would help in toning the leg and butt muscles, which has now been said to be bogus.

REEBOK, ONE of the most well sports shoe makers in the world is well known for manufacturing shoes that help one run faster and may be jump higher. We have heard about it, but when they introduced EasyTone and RunTone shoe into the market, they said that these shoes would be useful for those people who would like to tone their leg and buttock muscles. People were very excited when they saw advertisements about it on their TV screens. Many people also purchased the shoe, hoping that it would stand to its promise of toning their muscles. But, now it has been found that the shoes does not help in toning their legs and butt muscles. After this, Reebok were in a spot of bother.

Hence, as a result the Federal Trade Commission ordered the company to cough up $25 million in partial customer refunds as the claims of toning muscles has been termed false, as per dailyfinance.com. Consumers who brought the shoes are entitled for a refund of $25 to $50 refund. Hope these consumers have kept the bills safely, as they have to provide a proof of their purchase when they claim their refund.

It may have been an intelligent move by Reebok, so as to attract customers to buy the shoes, but they were not aware of the consequences, if they were caught. Now, they will have to bear some loss due to it. Apart from the loss the name of the company will come into bad light, which will not help their business.

We cannot blame the company too for their idea, as there is cut throat competition in the sports shoe market. Companies such as Puma, Adidas, and Nike are some of the closest competitors in this sector. So, there are various strategies that are being used by the companies to attract their customers. Some see success, some back fire.
