Swiss Football Association imposed a ban of three matches on one of country's most prolific football referees Massimo Busacca on Saturday. Busacca was seen showing his middle fingers towards the supporters of FC Baden.
IN AN uncanny incident, Swiss Football Association imposed a ban of three matches on one of country’s most prolific football referees Massimo Busacca on Saturday (September 19) for obscene gesture.
The incident occurred on Saturday, during a match between FC Baden and Young boys- photographers and TV footage caught 40-year-old match referee indulging in obscene gesture against the supporters of FC Baden. Swiss Football Association conducted a thorough enquiry into the humiliating incident and took cognizance of the incident and decided to impose a ban of three matches in the Swiss Domestic League for Massimo Busacca. In the footage, he was seen showing his middle fingers towards the supporters of FC Baden.
Swiss referee Busacca has been an acclaimed football match referee who has been a match referee in last World Cup 2006 played in Germany and will also be on the panel of 2010 FIFA World Cup, which will be organised in South Africa.
The incident occurred when FC Baden players’ scored a goal against Young Boys and instantly it sent waves of joy amongst the supporters of FC Baden and they began entering the field shouting slogans in the support of their team. Seeing this match referee Massimo asked to broadcast a warning message to the media and it enraged the supporters further.
On the ban Massimo Busacca said, “I lost my cool and it should have been avoided, I was wrong and I will pay the price for getting provoked by the crowd.”
Swiss Football Association has said in a statement, “He is the best Swiss football referee in present times but ban had to be imposed as his behaviour was unsporting and deplorable.
