One-day Regional Consultation Meet on "Education-2030 and UN's Sustainable Development Goal (SDG-4)" is being held on 29th March in Jaipur by the National Coalition for Education (NCE).

The issues of the Right to Free and Quality education, the eradication of child labour and the promotion of Child Rights in collaboration with civil societies and teachers Unions will be discussed in the meet. The meet will be held at State Institute of Agriculture Management in Durgapura locality of the city.

The NCE is conglomeration of networks working on Right to Education (RTE), All India Primary Teachers Federation (AIPTF); a union of more than 3 million primary teachers, All India Federation of Teachers' Organisations (AIFTO); All India Association for Christian Higher Education (AIACHE) and World Vision India.

According to the organizers of the meet, the aim is to familiarize and orient the participants with the new targets of "Education 2030 Agenda and SDG-4" which is to be achieved by year 2030.

The participants from different adjacent states of Rajasthan such as MP, UP, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi will be attending the proceedings. Apart from this, there will be local participants from Jaipur including representatives of NGOs, Teacher's Unions and Government officials.

The representatives of the local NGOs working in the area of elementary education such as CULP and child rights organizations have also been invited to articulate their views.

According to SDG-4, obtaining a quality education is the foundation to improving people's lives and sustainable development. It is being felt that though major progress has been made towards increasing access to education at all levels and increasing enrolment rates in schools particularly for women and girls, however, bolder efforts are needed to make even greater strides for achieving universal quality education goals.

The global education agenda (Education-2030) is part of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with an aim to "Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all" by the year 2030.
