Released for good behavior, convict rapes and kills minor girl
Sunil Suresh aka Pappu Salve arrested in 2003 for raping and murdering a minor girl was released from Nashik road jail on May 28 2012 on grounds of his good behaviour. In spite of being let off, it has been learned that Suresh did not learn from his mistake, as he allegedly kidnapped, raped and killed a nine-year-old girl in Shirdi on December 28 2012.
THE POLICE arrested Suresh on Sunday last at Manmad railway station in Nashik
district of Maharashtra. After being produced in the court, he has been remanded to police custody until January 17. The decomposed body of the girl was found on Friday night after Suresh had dumped it near Shirdi railway station.
Outraged at the brutal act, locals in the area organized a protest march and demanded strict action against the accused. A case of rape and murder has been registered against the accused, which will be decided in a fast track court.
Such incidents point towards the fact that criminals never want to learn from their mistakes. In 2003, Suresh had been awarded death sentence, but he had appealed against the sentence in the Bombay High Court, reported Hindustan Times. Due to lack of evidence and weak investigation, Suresh did not face the gallows. Had he been hanged, the nine-year-old in Shirdi would not have fallen prey to the predator.
