India's second largest mobile operator thus became the first one to sign along the dotted line since it acquired the 3G mobile spectrum in the beginning of 2010 for $ 1.85 billion (85.9 billion rupees).
RELIANCE COMMUNICATIONS, headed by Anil Ambani is leaving no stone unturned to make itself omnipresent. As talks surfaced between Reliance Big Entertainment and Universal Studios proposing a mega theme park, the multi-billion conglomerates have signed another deal to offer third generation (3G) music services in India.
When the 3G music service is launched by Reliance Communication and Universal, the subscribers will be able to access full-track music downloads, video streaming, live concerts and ring tones on their 3G mobile phones.
Reliance Communications has a customer base of 110 million subscribers and it plans to launch this service in the later part of 2010 or early 2011. Upon signing the deal, Reliance Communications, Director Mahesh Prasad said that the company is going to be aggressive with its 3G services and the service will be launched assuming only when spectrum is in place.Meanwhile, Nokia had already tasted success with its download service from Ovi Music Unlimited. The company called it all you can eat offer and was introduced in the second quarter of 2010.Universal has its own catalogue of famous artistes like Bryan Adams, The Black Eyed Peas, Enrique, Eminem, Lady Gaga from Hollywood and artistes like Shaan and Sunidhi Chauhan in the local circle.
