The book, Remembering the Juice Mango, based on the backdrop of partition by NRI author Neena Kalhon, was recently launched in India by Dr Kiran Bedi, Vikram Chandra, CEO NDTV and Jagmohan, Former Union Minister.
AN NRI author based in the US, Neena Kahlon, came to India recently, to release her maiden novel 'Remembering the Juice Mango'. The author has highlighted human struggle against the mayhem of violence to sustain the basic human emotion of love. Kahlon’s work promises to be very gripping, deeply emotional and a highly sensitive piece.
Kiran Bedi congratulated Kahlon and expressed her pride to see another woman from Punjab doing a great job in her chosen field. She also expressed her belief in the subject matter and thanked Kahlon for reminding everyone things that should not be forgotten.Vikram Chandra added that, the majority of the population now have not experienced the historical collateral damage and such fictions are unique and probably the best way for the generation alive to know and sensitise with the event. Jagmohan, former governor of Jammu and Kashmir, declared the book a must read masterpiece.
The book is a saga of love across three generations, a love powerful enough to transcend all human tragedies and hatred. Neena Kahlon concluded the launch evening on a philanthropic note to suggest that an eye for an eye would end the world blind. She felt that only thing she wanted to achieve by writing the book was to make every individual more thinking and sensitive towards the other. If only the world could learn from the history and be better individuals in their own right, loving the cause of humanity, she could feel her book to be a success. The book released in India just before Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday on October 2 and it is a reminder on what he lived and died for.
