Remote villages of tehsil Mughal Maidan in J&K are without water supply from last several years
Despite tall claims made by PHE Department in providing hassle free supply of safe drinking water in remote villages of Kishtwar district, the efforts remain only in official orders and letters, as no improvement can be seen on the ground from the said department.

In this modern age of technology, where electric power projects are constructed and water is used for producing electricity, inhabitants of remote villages of tehsil Mughal Maidan, including Chan Bhata and Sigdi Bhata are unaware, on how water can be used for producing electricity.

It is a common example, that how PHE department is serving the inhabitants of tehsil Mughal Maidan.

Informing this media person, residents of Chan Bhata said, ''More than 60 inhabitants are residing in village Chan Bhata, having a population of near about 300 people."

They further added, "From last several years, we haven't got a single pipeline for water supply and we have to travel 2-3 km far near river nallahs for bringing water."

Residents also said, "Despite many repeated requests brought before the village sarpanch, MLAs and officers of PHE department, till today no one has solved our problem.''

About 20 years ago, PHE department had provided 150 pipelines for villages like Chan Bhata, Bhata and Chan Gowarin, but it is still not being maintained for supply of safe drinking water.

Another resident of village Chan Gowarin said, "Our women and girls have to go to a spring or river for bringing water for cooking, bathing, drinking and even bringing water for cattle, which is injustice being done by the state government and PHE Department with poor residents of the said village."

It is pertinent to mention that in this holy month of Ramadan, district administration has neglected remote villages of tehsil Mughal Maidan in providing hassle free supply of essential commodities and others daily needs.

Residents of village Chan Bhata, Gowarin and Bhata have demanded personal intervention of DC, Kishtwar, Mr Ghulam Nabi Balwan, to personally look into this matter and direct the concerned department for installation of pipelines in above said villages at the earliest.

They have otherwise threatened to launch a massive agitation against the state government and district administration for their genuine demands.
