As the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) in its work-in-progress to renovate the old bridge of railway station, which gives its shelter to sixteen railway lines and beggars too, the transportation system will become more smooth and convenient for the commuters. Beyond this, the dhabas and small restaurants of Amrit Kaur market are also in the fray as they rapidly changing their ugly face to give a symmetric look to the market. So, everything seems to be in favour of bringing more and more tourists during September and October this year. And, undoubtedly one can get a room at cheapest rate in narrow streets of Pahar Ganj.

But, these Lilliputian inns could become headache for the business of genuine hotels. Currently in the area, two to three star hotels have made their place among upper middle income group and people across the world prefer to stay there for business purposes as two biggest markets, Sadar Bazaar and Chandni Chowk, are so nearby from there. After fuel price hike, the transportation cost pinching the dealers to cut the cost. In this situation, the dwarf hotels would succeed to woo the troublesome dealers.

However, parking problem has neither taken up by MCD nor by private hoteliers. In spite of this, the hotels provide cab service and luxurious bus service to the customers. Besides, they also have trained guides and language experts, money changers, travel agents and bar etc.

The foreigners’ taste rich market, Main Bazaar, adds enormous advantage to commence house-cum-hotel as the tourists love to stay near their favourite place, where they can get each and every thing of their wish.

The dark face of Pahar Ganj’s mini lodges has been shown by Anurag Kashyap in Dev D. The director tried to unveil the night life of the vicinity. He did not give any chance to its positive aspect and courageously unearthened the insidious condition of Pahar Ganj’s un-whitewashed and narrow ladder passage and slender corridors hotels. As these hotels have no liability to follow any safety norms certificate.

The area can’t be categorised as market, hotel-line and residential. One can find a commercial shop, a house and a hotel within the same building.
