Panicked residents left their houses as a mild earthquake jolted Sikkim last night around 8 o' clock. The tremor that shook Sikkim and adjoining areas came exactly four months after the September 18 devastating earthquake that claimed over 60 lives.

Met Officials said that the small intensity earthquake’s epicentre was 27.3 degree North and 88.5 degree East that lies between Khamdong and Rumtek in East Sikkim. No casualties or damages have been reported so far.
Frightened people left their homes and assembled in the open fields and courtyards after their houses started shaking. Though a mild one, but people panicked as the memories of the recent devastating earthquake were still fresh on their minds.
Avvantika Shiori Rajalim, 25, immediately posted her fear on her Facebook: “Does the number "18" have any earthquake related significance with Sikkim?Damn! that half a second jolt scared me to death!”
