Residents Welfare Associations in Gurgaon gearing up for Holi celebrations
For a person living alone in Gurgaon, Holi can be a lonely festival. They might go to the various holi festivals organised by Apparel House or various hotels, listen to some music and get some buffet lunch or dinner but to play holi among friends and family is a luxury in Gurgaon, which not everyone can indulge in. Trying to get a glimpse of how the residents in Gurgaon celebrate holi, we talked to some of the Residents Welfare Association Presidents.
For the people of Sector 1, Palam Vihar, Maple Town and Country Club is the destination this holi. Talking about the celebration, which is organised for 16 March in the evening from 8, Satish Kumar Sodhani, President, said, “ most of the residents of Sector 1 will meet at the club. They have organised holika dahan, dinner at the club and it is a nice opportunity to meet people. The party goes on till 10 clock. ''
Celebrity Homes, Palam Vihar believes in the old traditional way of celebrating holi. Talking about the celebration, Lalit M Chawla said, ''We have been celebrating holi for the last 10 years. This time too, we would have a pool side celebration with DJ for the music. Last time there were 150 people attending the event, but this time due to the weather, lesser people will make it to the event.'' The event would start at around 10:30 am on 17 March.
Not everyone is a fan of holi as pointed out by Swaran Parihar, President of Lagoon Apartment, Gurgaon. She said, ''We are celebrating holi in the Central lawn. At around 11:30 residents would gather there for a catered lunch. There are people who would play holi on the day but I am not one of them.''
