Retired cops in Haryana in hurry to join politics with AAP as first preference
Taking cue from super cop, Kiran Bedi, several top cops in Haryana have either jumped in to politics or are planning. There is beeline of former cops for joining Aam Aadmi Party since Delhi's chief minister Arvind Kejriwal belongs to Haryana, these cops think that riding on the popularity of Kejriwal they will be elected either as MP or a MLA.

Ranbir Sharma, son-in-law of former Union Minister of State for Home I.D. Swami and another top cop V.N. Rai have joined the Aam Aadmi Party. Another retired Director General of Haryana, Ajit Singh Bhatotia is knocking at the doors of AAP claiming that he want to serve the masses.

Retired top cop Parmveer Rathi, friend of Haryana's CM since is planning to contest Lok Sabha polls from Sonipat Lok Sabha seat in Haryana. Rathi was Hooda's intelligence chief and after retirement Hooda has retained him as his advisor of Home department.

Earlier experience of cops joining politics and contesting elections in Haryana has been utter failure as none of I.P.S officers who contested elections could win although few lower level cops made their entry in the state Assembly.

A retired DG rank officer of Haryana cadre while commenting on the scenario said that during their entire posting these cops manage plum postings by obeying the illegal dictates of political bosses and used stick on Aam Aadmi and when Aadmi reverse the trend in electoral battle they realized the ground reality.

The way AAP is admitting retired cops in its fold has astonished many in the state who otherwise has sympathy for the party. It is believed that Haryana which is trend setter in politics of defection is setting another trend. Some vested interests worried over growing popularity of AAP are planting their men to sabotage the prospects of newly born party.

Ajit Singh Bhatotia, after retirement has joined the Congress Party singing songs in praise of Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Hooda. It is interesting to mention here that while expecting that Bhajan lal would be the chief minister of Haryana after 2005 assembly polls, Ajit Singh Bhatotia has made courtesy call to Bhajanlal, son Kuldeep Bishnoi in advance.

When Hooda became chief minister, like a political turncoat, Bhatotia switched his loyalties to Hooda. Ranbir Singh who had taken voluntary retirement two years before his retirement, claims that he is personal friend of Arvind Kejriwal. After retirement within seventy hours he changed his stand several times from contesting all seats under the banner of his outfit Lokmanch and ultimately joining AAP eying Karnal Lok Sabha seat once represented by his father-in-law I.D.Swami on  BJP's ticket. Interestingly V.N. Rai is also eying the same seat.

P.V. Rathi has even put politicians to shame by  appealing to people to vote cautiously to retain the Choudhar of old Rohtak area making an obvious appeal to strengthen hands of Bhupinder Hooda, while holding official post of advisor of Chief Minister. He even said that if AAP is voted to power then  power will shift from Rohtak area to Rewari and if Janhit Congress of Kuldeep Bishnoi is voted to power then power will be shifted to Hissar his home town and in case Indian National Lok Dal of Om Parkash Chautala wins power will go in Sirsa, his home district.

West Bengal cops, former Joint Director of CBI U.S. Biswas and Abani Mohan are lucky that they got elected and made ministers by Mamta Banerjee but in Haryana, top cops Hansraj Swan, D.D.Kashyap, Chander Bhan and Resham Singh failed miserably in electoral fray. Wife of former top cop Mohinder Malik who after retirement has joined Indian National Lok Dal has unsuccessfully contested from Sonipat Lok Sabh seat on INLD ticket when Malik was Director General of Police.

Rao Maan Singh was made Rajya Sabha member by Om Parkash Chautala. I.P.S officers maintains good relations with politicians and dance to their tune to get good posting. A DGP rank cop has put even chameleon to shame by singing poem at a public function in praise of the then chief minister.

Another DGP rank officer used to compare sons of the then chief minister Om Prakash Choutala with sun and moon. After retirement, DGP V.N Negi has taken sanyas and living in an ashram in Himachal Pardesh. Anoop Yadav, former Judge and wife of R.S. Yadav, a Gujarat cadre I.P.S officer who was on deputation in Haryana has unsuccessfully contested 1996 assembly elections as an independent candidate.
