'Freaky Ali' revolves around Ali (Nawazuddin), an orphan who has been raised by Sulabha (Seema Biswas), a Maharashtrian lady. He is happy and content in selling undergarments for a living until his friend Maqsood (Arbaaz) comes up with the nasty idea of becoming an extortionist to double his income. Ali decides to join him but at the same time also fears about how his aai will react if she comes to know about his misdeeds.
Ali is an excellent sportsman as well and his life takes a major turn during his encounter with a businessman, to whom he goes to extort money from, at a golf course.
Ali discovers his hidden talent, his putting skills and from here on, a poor man turns into a professional golfer. Soon, he registers a win against a five-time champion.
The film's treatment is satisfactory and the dialogue are just about fine. But, the main highlight of the film is Nawazuddin, who is excellent when it comes to his own performance. The actor has done justice to his character and his efforts to bring out such a colorful character on-screen should be praised considering his first such attempt on the big screen as a protagonist.
Initially, the film successfully manages to maintain its pace but later on loses interest due to its repetitive story-telling style. Few things in the film are hard to digest like the way a normal man becomes an overnight golf star without putting in any great effort and how he manages to give a hard time to a champion of the game.
The story line is predictable and you will hardly witness anything new in the film. Watch it purely for Nawazuddin Siddiqui and his performance, if you must.
