Reviews: Apne, Awarapan and Aap ka Surror
The last Friday of June witnessed releases of three Bollywood blockbusters that have been in the news for the past few months. The three movies released are ‘Aap Ka Suroor’, ‘Apne’ and ‘Awarapan’. Here are the reviews of all three.

Aap Ka Suroor:

Himesh Reshammiya’s debut film ‘Aap Ka Surroor’ has created a sensation in India. The journey of Himesh from a TV producer to a music composer was rather long. However, he took little time to hit the big screen. Nobody has a doubt about his singing skills however, people are curious to know about his acting skills. Don’t expect miracles. Himesh is not a star but his performance in ‘Aap Ka Suroor’ is definitely laudable.

Throughout the movie, he has acted in a confident manner. He showed guts and courage and proved his detractors wrong who used to cast doubt on his acting skills. There is nothing new in the story. This is the same story we have watched hundred times in Bollywood movies. The story revolves around the murder mystery of a young TV Journalist. Himesh is arrested for her murder and then begins the fight for justice. Himesh asks Mallika, a lawyer to bail him out of the case. Then begins the drama. Watch it! You won’t be disappointed.

My rating for this movie: ***

Apne:

For the first time, Deol family is seen in a single movie. Dharmendra, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol featured in Anil Sharma’s ‘Apne’. It is well-known that Deol family has always been on Anil Sharma’s favourite list. Remember ‘Hukumat’, ‘Tehalka’, ‘Gadar’ and many more that speak about the chemistry between Anil Sharma and the Deols?

‘Apne’ is more or less a sequence of emotional events between father Dharmendra and sons Sunny and Bobby. However, the movie is a bit lengthy and that might go against it. After all, who has the time to watch a 3-hour movie? Since the Deol family worked together for the first time in a movie, it’s worth watching. Also, the boxing matches are interesting. On the whole, it is a good family drama full of emotions. It will do great especially in North India.

My rating for this movie: ***1/2

Awarapan:

This Emraan Hashmi starrer is released at a wrong time. The movie will find it difficult to compete with much-publicized movies ‘Aap Ka Suroor’ and ‘Apne’. However, it’s worth watching. Emraan Hashmi and Mohit Suri have yet again proved their mettle with their scintillating performance in ‘Awarapan’. It has good music, drama, action, thrill, emotion all that is needed to make a hit.

It’s based on a love story, but has different angles that make it unique. It’s different from the common Bollywood love stories. Mahesh Bhatt has proved yet again why he is regarded as the most creative director in Bollywood. Watch the movie! You will like it.

My rating for this movie: ***1/2
