Revisiting tenets of Jainism through language art of acrostic this Mahavir Jayanti
Mahavir Jayanti is being celebrated on March 29 this year by the Jain community across the world with great reverence and gaiety.

Lord Mahavira was the last and 24th Tirthankaras of the Jains who established the tenets of Jainism, which is now recognized as a separate religion. In Jainism, the 24th Tirthankara is called Mahavir as he gained victory over body-senses-mind combine and thus attained liberation.

It is believed by the Jains that after Mahavira's birth, Indra bathed him in celestial milk with rituals befitting a future Tirthankar and he was returned to his mother, Trishala. His birthday is celebrated as Mahavir Jayanti as a religious holiday by various sects of the Jains.

Let's understand the tenets of Jain Dharma in nutshell through two acrostics on this Mahavir Jayanti.

Here is my acrostic that describes Jainism:

J: Jina (The conqueror) is the one who
A: Attains self-control and self-victory and develop
I: Insights for right knowledge, conduct and vision for attaining
N: Nirvana by making the soul feel the
I: Infinite bliss and
S: Shedding the karmic bandages of the
M: Materialistic world to spiritualize oneself.

Here is the acrostic on Mahavira:

M: Make non-violence, compassion and forgiveness as your Dharma
A: Alike are all souls in their true nature and qualities
H: Humility makes one humane for treating oneself as a small part of the environment
A: Attainment of Moksha is the sole aim of human life through right thoughts, words and deeds
V: Victory over mind and senses is the real victory - being Mahavira
I: Indolence and sense gratification are biggest obstacles to self-control
R: Revere all as souls as central point of spiritual discipline
A: Attachments and aversions cause Karma bondages for birth and re-birth cycles
