Rice warns India on post pact nuke test
The nuclear deal endangers Indian security rather than giving energy infrastructure and resources for faster development. By preventing India from further tests it corners the nation from holding a secret weapons programme
BEFORE GETTING the nod from the Senate Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice has said that India will face grave consequences besides several bans that may follow later.

Rice wrote to Senate majority leader Harry Lead saying that Bush administration is willing to pass the bill without any fresh amendments.

Setting aside doubts of a few senators against the reliability of India and the impact of a test after the deal, she has pointed out the affirmation by India to the US in 2005 and the recent reiteration to the international community in September 2008.

It is evident that India has obligations under the deal and indirectly solemnised that it won’t conduct any nuclear test as committed to the international community.

The opposition continuously criticizes the government for not disclosing such a commitment to the domestically and repeatedly keeps saying that it has not lost the right to conduct a nuclear test.

Rice’s visit to India on the October 4 would witness widespread opposition as Left and other parties’ will fiercely oppose the deal on account of subjugating Indian interests to the US.

American interests does not rest with limiting India on nuclear power but to control proliferation of danger to other minor but potential countries such as North Korea, Pakistan and Iran.

Now, Pakistan claims to be allowed to carry out such deal with its long time and reliable ally China. North Korea obviously developed its nuclear and missile technologies with help from Pakistan and China.

The trio could play a vital role in spearheading a nuclear campaign to other aspirants like Iran, Syria and South Africa in a clandestine manner or through a deal transparently.

The deal has paved the way for an argument of fair play by treating all partners equally and claims the right to make such deals with favourite nations.

Therefore, it has opened up a Pandora’s Box instead of containing nuclear proliferation across the globe.

The Indian position on nuclear arms ceased to be relevant after Pakistan and China seriously started to endanger free and fearless sovereignty and existence.

India’s restraint over the nuke option came under further strain following heavy militarization of Pakistan by the US on the eve of USSR’s invasion in Afghanistan. The Jihadi war enabled Pakistan to procure arms beyond its requirement to arm Mujahideen forces that fought against the Soviet Army. Later the same arms were given to Kashmir groups and Sikh terrorists for internal strife in India.

A similar situation seems to be arising once again as 9/11, 2001 WTC attack enabled Pakistan to accumulate large scale weapons and other aids that is diverted against India. This has become evident from US government agency reports.

Hence, nuclear arms are a counter strategy and India could face dire situations threatening its security.

However, the deal ceases to provide co-operation for civilian use and asks the nation to divide civilian and defence facilities. It will expose major defence installations to rival countries and become prime target of terrorist attacks.

The deal thus endangers Indian security rather than giving energy infrastructures and resources for faster development. By preventing India from further tests it corners the nation from holding a secret weapons programme. It also does not ensure US support if there is any nuclear attacks on the nation by rivals following serious confrontations that may emerge in future.

Through the deal just by increasing power-energy resources up to 5 per cent in the next 10 years India has risked its vital security strategy.

Therefore the real beneficiaries of the deal are US and its best allies Pakistan and China, definitely not India in the existing global political aspirations.

I think this deal will make India more vulnerable. US will have access to India's nuclear technology. Today US may not be in Pak's favour but whats the guarantee that the big brother stays in the right mood. Foes become friend and friends become threat to US security.

By signing this nuclear deal India has not lost its security strategy if you look through the prism of actual security instead of looking into through a short term perspective. India has more than 120 nuclear warheads on its shelf ready for delivery. And the tests concluded so far are more satisfactory to protect this nation. And if our scientists think we need more tests to be concluded to comlete this security sphere, then we will be in a safe situation where our basic energy needs will not be disturbed by any country and once India has complete energy security. We can any time break loos this deal and get into nuke testing. If Pakistan China and the US think that they are the beneficiaries - then they have a loose end left in Article 123.....hahahaa what a joke for KRB to see the prism in this direction and perspective instead of looking through this prism in the right angel through which the nuke light is coming. Article 123 has not be altered or chnaged before it got approval from the US Senate. It is here the US are not comfortable with India. If US thinks we will violate the agreement and break loose, we always have other allied nations with us to support us in future. And next India does not need any gaurntee for any nation that we will not be nuked in case of any wars with our neighbours. Nor we are just small tiny nations who need a security apparatus around us from US, Russia or any developed nation. Actually they are coming to us Indians to provide security in the Indian Ocean and in this South Asian Region....Today we will emerge as Regional Power....And if we are blessed with wise, strong and powerful political leaders in the future - we will emerge as a World Power as well...So do not under estimate what our leaders are doing today...

Deigo Garcio lease from the British has expired and the US will be out of that Base. Just tell me why you need somebody to protect our country. Are we so impotent unable to defend ourselves. Next nuke weapons are just a sttrategic card today every nation plays in politics. If US wanted to complicate this region with this nuke deal, then what was China and Pakistan doing exporting nuke and missile technology. ThenRussians were with us in the past. Our Allies - I meant France and Russia will always provide us the uranium for our reactors. And I do agree USSR is not Russia, today. But you know what happened in the Caucaus Georgia where the NATO is corned, the US so silent unable to do anything against the Russians. All your concerns are we lost our nuclear virginty.....Have you ever seen throught this angle that we are no more NAM kids, and the US has proven that the NPT is outdated as many treaties they signed with the USSR. We have to bite the bullet if we need to traverse through this phase. And will have a better future for generations to come. Is this nuclear deal hadnt been throuhg both Chikes and Pakis are happy, even if we sign the deal again they are the beneficiares, its strange abotu your argument and am understanding that you are against the US and this Nuk deal..
