Richard Rennie: An expert in his field
It's not often that a multi-talented performer, entertainer and artist like Richard Rennie is also able to articulate his or her views on their craft at the same level at which they perform.

Rennie, it seems, must be an outlier. Richard is someone who is frequently heralded as an exceptionally talented actor, model, dancer, presenter, host and is also able to give back to his peers by way of his contributions as an informed expert.

Richard has recently served as a judge for several prestigious film festivals, including the notable Glendale International Film Festival. For his role at the Glendale International Film Festival, Richard has judged films that call on his abilities to understand the technical aspect of being able to deliver a directors work while staying true to the organic simplicity of acting for screen.

At Top Shorts, where Richard was a head judge, he was required to adopt an authoritative view on what defines not only exceptional acting, but also good filming. With 15-years of experience in the entertainment industry, Richard undoubtedly brought a wealth of knowledge that meant fellow artists in the competition could trust the decisions handed down.

Richard is participating as a judge at the St. Petersburg International Film Festival, where he views and critiques hours of feature films from across the world. "It's an incredible experience to be able to view art from across the world. It makes me realize how much continued learning and growth I can do as an artist through the experience of sharing with others. Being chosen as a judge for it (SPIFF) is frankly an honor and a privilege - I get to watch all sorts of new material!"

Richard was also on the panel of judges for Mar Del Dance's 10th Anniversary Dance on Film festival, a short film festival comprised exclusively of dance films from across the globe. "Mar Del Dance is doing an amazing job this year - their mission to spark change, promote positivity, and empower people to tell their stories through the arts is such an incredible thing - it's so important for everyone, no matter what their creative outlet, to have an opportunity for their voice to be heard. Mar Del Dance is offering that with their diversified festival." Richard continues, "it was special for me coming from a dance background to be a part of this particular festival. These guys are fostering creativity beyond what I could have initially even imagined."

In addition, Richard has found that his authorship of the paper "The Multi-Hyphenate Entertainer: How to Juggle Artistry with Business", has been so well received by academics, scholarly institutions and students around the world, that it has been published on Medium for viewership by the sites hundreds of millions of daily visitors.

"I've been very grateful that I've been able to share my experiences in the industry with students and other artists around the world," explained Richard, who is also well known for being an active participant in BAFTA - the UK's equivalent to the organisation that hands out the Oscars.

It's therefore appropriate and well supported, no doubt, that Richard is able to enjoy a relatively high-salary for someone in his field. In an industry in which it is notoriously difficult to find consistent work, Richard has enjoyed the perks of being a multi-skilled artist, commanding a salary for all of his areas that quite frankly, easily places him in the top 5% of his field.

For acting, sources suggested that Richard earned $156 per hour for his series-regular role as Terré in "UNVERIFIED." Such a specific figure is not entirely arbitrary though.

"Hollywood can be very funny with the specifics of earnings; I'd have to ask my agent about how such a figure was calculated. All I know is that my whole team is really behind me and my work." He adds with a laugh.

In modeling, the work is usually quantified in day rates equalling up to $3k. At the height of his career in dance, Richard received 300 euros per show at the Moulin Rouge as a principal dancer. This consistent salary, accruing over 5 years of time with the company, afforded him the luxury of purchasing his own home in Paris. "It was such an honor to receive such a consistent salary package over my tenure at the Moulin Rouge. I am truly thankful for the security they were able to provide me for my work."

It might be easy for people to be jealous of Richard. His affable, warm nature – combined with a biting and self-deprecating sense of humour that can have anyone in stitches – soon dissipates any envy in anyone who meets him. "I like entertaining people," Richard adds. "I also love making people feel comfortable, and making sure that they know they're special and unique. That's the great thing about storytelling and being a part of this industry."
