THE INTERNAL rift in the BJP became wide open after former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhra Raje refused to quit as the leader of opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly as per the directive of the party High Command.
A group of BJP MLAs supporting Raje called upon party president Rajnath Singh to impress upon him the fact that the former chief minister still commanded the support of the majority of party members. The party legislators are believed to have told Singh that majority of party MLAs were with the former chief minister.
Rajasthan state BJP is divided on the issue as the faction supporting the former CM have decided to defy the party diktat and oppose the directive of Raje's removal. BJP president Rajnath Singh had asked Raje to resign from the post after party's poor showing in the recent Lok Sabha elections.
Raje supporters are also likely to meet senior most party leader LK Advani to put forth their grievances on the issue. They also reiterated to reelect her as the leader of the Legislative party in case the party high command in case of the party tried to force the decision upon them.
Latest reports said that BJP legislators are camping in front of senior leader LK Advani house waiting to call upon him.
Meanwhile, Vasundhara Raje, who is in the centre of the storm has preferred to keep mum on the party decision. But sources said that she is likely to join her supporters in Delhi, who are waging a battle on her behalf.
