RIHANNA ON her first television interview, since being assaulted by Chris Brown, her former boyfriend, told 20/20’s Diane Sawyer that she felt so very much ashamed of ever being involved with the Kiss Kiss singer in the first place.
Rihanna after being teased on ABC’s Good Morning, said that it was quite embarrassing that she had ever fallen in love with a person like Chris in the interview which was aired on Friday Night. She said that she was so far in love, so unconditional that she went back. She felt it very humiliating to say that such a thing happened and more ever to accept it is one kind of a traumatizing experience.
Rihanna further told Sawyer that during the February 8 attack, Chris put her in a headlock twice and even bit her ears and fingers. Still she found herself being drawn back to the fellow R & B star soon after the incident, which took place on the Grammy Award’s Eve.
Rihanna admitted that she stayed and even went back even after Chris beat her, which was wrong. She said, “I'm a human being, and people put me on a very unrealistic pedestal. And all these expectations, I'm not perfect. Also it's pretty natural for that to be the first reaction. ... It's completely normal to go back. You start lying to yourself. The minute the physical wounds go away you want this thing to go away. This is a memory you don't want to have ever again. "
In the interview with Diane Sawyer, Rihanna said that it was later quite some time that she realized how important it was for her to send the right message to the people who look up to her.
Rihanna added that when she realized that her selfish decision for love could result in some young girl getting killed, she could not be easy with that and did not want her to be responsible for that. She said that even if Chris never beat her again, who’s to say that their boyfriends won’t? Who’s to say that their boyfriends won’t kill their girlfriends? Lastly she said that she did not realize how much of an impact she had on these girls lives until that happened.
Rihanna’s 20/20 interview video shows her giving out details of her painful Chris Brown’s assault.
