Though there is nothing much officially known but the speculations say the device will carry a 9.7 inch touch screen, the same as Apple's iPad. The make is said to be almost identical to the iPad.
THE PREMIUM phone makers from Canada, Research In Motion (RIM), have decided to enter the touch screen tablet market. RIM, the BlackBerry smartphone makers, has said that the device will enter the market this November with the name “Blackpad”.
RIM has already acquired the domain name blackpad.com this month. This makes the reports true.
Though there is nothing much officially known but the speculations say the device will carry a 9.7 inch touch screen, the same as Apple’s iPad. The make is said to be almost identical to the iPad. The Blackpad will be priced the same as the Apple iPad. The Blackpad will include a full touchscreen but will have a slide-out full Qwerty keyboard for easy typing.
The RIM Blackpad will include both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Unlike Apple iPad, Blackpad is said to allow connection to the BlackBerry for internet. Apple doesn’t allow tethering the iPhone to the iPad so that the users owning the two devices could use a single data plan. Blackpad can be tethered to BlackBerry and can utilise the data plans of the phone.
The company plans to keep the price similar to iPad rather than selling huge number of devices at a lower price. RIM is said to make additional profits from its tablets rather than some parteners by subsidising it for a data plan etc.
The report also cited analyst Ashok Kumar with Rodman & Renshaw, who said the device would have two cameras one each at front and back for video conferencing.
