Rio bronze medalist Sakshi Malik's home in Rohtak becomes scene of boisterous celebrations
Everyone seems to be rejoicing Sakshi Malik winning the bronze medal in wrestling at Rio Olympic Games - may it be social media, mainstream media, Bollywood, politicians, commoners, family members or sports persons.

In Haryana's Rohtak, Sakshi Malik's family celebrated the bronze medal win with fireworks, music and dance. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar calling the win a 'very proud moment' congratulated Sakshi's family and hoped that the Indian contingent would bring home some more medals.

It was a well fought and hard win for Sakshi since after having gone down 2-9 against Russia's Valeriia Koblova in the quarter-finals, she was accorded another chance at a medal via repechage. She made full use of it defeating Mongolian wrestler Orkhon Purevdorj to advance to the bronze-medal fight.

Sakshi has become the fourth Indian woman athlete to win an Olympic medal after Karnam Malleshwari, Mary Kom and Saina Nehwal.

The Uttar Pradesh government decided to confer her the prestigious Rani Laxmi Bai Award. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said she had made the nation proud by her outstanding achievement as woman.
