It is the best time of the year to be in Brazil to enjoy the carnival in Rio De Janerio. Revellers wearing all kinds of costumes of Sambha dancers, superheroes and ghosts line up the streets of Brazil to dance. The 2013 celebrations started Sunday amidst much fanfare.
Street parades that are followed by thousands of people from all over the world
take place in the annual carnival with music, dancing and merrymaking being the main motive of the people. Although many people are mourning the accidental death of people in a nightclub fire earlier this year, there are many who have taken to the streets to dance away their worries during the five-day carnival.
International stars such as Megan Fox
, and Gangnam Style famed singer Psy are believed to take part in the carnival. A tourist, who has come to the festival for the love of the country and its people said, “Everyone just having a good time. No one cares; everyone is out to just enjoy themselves. So that is why I like coming to the Brazilian carnival. Brazilian people are special people, especially here in Rio and that what makes the carnival special.”
Although Rio is known for its carnival, other places also do not lack behind. A native from Recife said, “The energy of the Recife carnival means that you don't need to see. Here I forget that I am blind. I sing, I jump and I have fun with everyone. Recife is the best carnival in Brazil.”
People go crazy and just enjoy the carnival during this period. As was reported by independent.co.uk, over 700 carnival processions will make their way through parts of Rio and the events are expected to draw 1.1m tourists and generate some $650m for the local economy.
