PV Sindhu, the Indian badminton player, has reached women's singles semi-finals at Rio Olympics 2016. Sindhu defeated London Games silver medallist Wang Yihan of China in the quarter-final match.

In semi-finals, Sindhu will take on Japan's Nozomi Okuhara. If Sindhu defeats Okuhara, she will be in the finals ensuring a medal for India at Rio Olympics.

In her quater-final match against World No. 2 Wang Yihan, the Indian Shuttler won the first game 22-20. At one point, Sindhu trailed 10-12 and was 20-20 but she managed to keep herself calm and focused on the game. And the final result was in her favour.

Then in the second game, Sindhu, the two-time world championship bronze medallist, was ahead of her opponent 18-14, but then the Chinese shuttler made a superb comeback and leveled the game.

But, the Indian badminton player, who is World No.10, once again managed to keep herself calm and finally won the game 21-19.

With this, PV Sindhu won the match also and entered the semi-finals.

After her victory, Sindhu said, "This is also Rio Olympics, it's a very different feeling. It's one of the best moments. I hope there will be many more to come," reported The Indian Express.

With this achievement, PV Sindhu has become the second Indian player after Saina Nehwal to reach badminton semi-finals at Olympics.
