Rise in rape cases in Indian cities: Who's responsible?
Rise in rape crimes in Indian cities is certainly due to the failures from both Sides: State as well as society. First thing first. The state is not efficient and effective in punishing the rapists.

This is very clear from the very fact that the accused of this recent Delhi rape case has been found to be a serial offender.

Also, the society does not seem to take even the minimum precautions and measures to prevent potential rapes from becoming a reality.

There was carelessness from the victim side also. She was drunk and took a cab alone at midnight 1.00 am and was half-slept inside the cab.

Media should be sensitive, too. Why rape cases are so hyped? I feel, the media and women rights groups should not turn rape into a "male versus female issue". This hype ultimately does not benefit anyone in the society.

Rape is a big Crime, like murder and loot and rapists should be punished as per the strictest law to bring deterrence - the fear of law into the minds of potential offenders.

Havingsaid that "General Precautions and Preventive-Measures should be taken by women also, as the same are taken up to maximum possible level by all others, for the safety and security of their lives, health, riches and the honour".
