RJD chief Lalu Yadav gets bail from Supreme Court in multi-crore fodder scam
The 950 crore fodder scam convict, Lalu Prasad Yadav has got bail from Supreme Court today. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) was in Birsa Munda jail in Ranchi since October 03, 2013 when he given an imprisonment of five-years by a lower court.
The SC has granted bail to Lalu YAdav on three grounds. First one is that all the other co-accused were granted bail by the HC, the second thing is, Lalu has already served one year of his five year's sentence. And the final point is, the conditions imposed on him will be decided by the trial court.
In his bail plea, Lalu has said, “No reason has been given by the hon’ble high court for the rejection of the petioner’s prayer for bail. The petitioner has been treated differently in the matter of grant of bail in as much as some of the co-accused as stated above who are similarly situated has been granted bail,” as reported by media.
However, Rashtriya Janta Dal, chief cannot contest elections. RJD spokesperson Manoj Jha said, “We were very sure that the Supreme Court will listen to us. We have faith that he will get justice. This will boost the morale of the party.”
Lalu was in jail as prisoner number 3312. He was also being rendered a special VIP treatment there. The other 25 co-accused who were also convicted in the fodder scam have already got bail by the High Court.
