Roadies, without Raghu in its seventh season!
The seventh season of the reality show, Roadies is already in news with the announcement that Raghu Ram, who has by now become the face of the show would not be a part of it. Irrfan Khan might be in the show instead.
WHAT IS the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the word Roadies? Apart from the thrills and the competition, the show is synonymous with the man behind the show- Raghu Ram. Raghu is known for his rude style and humiliating comments for the contestants on the show and has been associated with the show for the past six years. But if the rumour mills are to believed, he will no longer be associated with Roadies.

MTV General manager Ashish Patil at a conference on the launch of the seventh season of Roadies said that Raghu was associated with the show for almost six years and the audiences were accustomed to him and his comments, anticipated his reactions but this time round he would not really be a part of the show. They have not revealed the person who was responsible for the auditions this time. According to him, it would come as a shock to all the viewers. He also said that Roadies is one show, which is known for its experimentation and they like to try out new things to catch the viewer’s attention and make it as thrilling as possible. Raghu’s disappearance from the show might be one such reason.

According to IANS report, the launch features VJ Rannvijay who has been associated with Roadies after his stint in the show season 1, VJ Bani who became an instant hit among the audiences after season 4, Ashish Patil the GM of MTV India, Creative Director Vivek Bhushan, Bumpy and Irrfan Khan. Raghu Ram was absent from the launch. The presence of Irrfan Khan came as s surprise to many who were present at the event.

The previous season that is, season six saw emergence of Rajiv, Raghu’s twin brother joining the team to cause double problems for the contestants on roadies which also meant Raghu’s slow disappearance from the show.

Roadies had always kept this concept of the bad men in mind when they had roped in Gulshan Grover in one of the seasons, with Raghu being omnipresent in all seasons and his brother Rajiv joined him in the previous season.

Today, Roadies is one of the longest running reality shows all set to come out with its seventh season that kick starts this September. This time the journey of the season begins from Bhuj in Gujarat and goes on to Egypt, Kenya and Tanzania in Africa. Roadies had gone International from the Australian season. This time, the show has meaner and deadlier competitions for the contestants presenting a surprise at each step. The auditions for the next season would have seven rounds with the first beginning online.

Will the audience be able to accept Raghu’s absence from the show? Would Irrfan Khan, rumoured to be replacing Raghu, be able to be as big a success story as the latter? Only time will tell if this season of Roadies would be successful in grabbing the eyeballs of its audiences, considering Raghu, the face of the show is no longer associated with it!
