Robot husbands might become reality in India by 2025
Robot husbands could make their entry into the Indian market by 2025. The wife would no longer have to get up and make French toast for breakfast. The lifelike robot will be able to dish out French, Chinese, Italian and south Indian cuisines in a jiffy to please the wife and even take care of the dishes and the mother-in-law when she comes to pay her daughter a visit. For automobile makers it could be the next big market.

As women begin to be firmly entrenched in the top niches of the human work force the male human could be running out of time and may become redundant in affluent sections of human society.

The institution of marriage and the role of the male in the family are already under considerable stress in most modern and industrialised societies. Women prefer not to tie themselves down to the concept of marriage as it involves too many compromises and adjustments from the side of the perceived weaker sex.

A robot cannot – like a human – pass on disease through sex.  A robot cannot grow old or become weak or fall ill. An intelligent working woman will therefore back home to a home cooked meal and squeaky clean home taken care of by a robot hubby.

Most young Indian women who are earning high salaries today prefer to remain unmarried because their husbands curtail their freedom. In the young urban middle class of India, working women have to come back from office and take care of the household chores as well, even if the husband is without a job or between jobs. Social values, social structure and beliefs make it impossible for him to cooperate or adjust with his working wife.

For a rich woman buying a robot would be like buying a car. The quality of the services she gets would depend on whether she has bought a BMW or a Mercedes or a Toyota or a Maruti. Like a car, a robot may need servicing and maintenance which will be taken care of by the companies that sell robots.
