The R&B singer had picked the infection at a detoxification centre last week, where she had been admitteed to fight her addiction to over the counter drugs and painkillers.
Her son, Donto James, said that she had been moved from a nursing facility to the Riverside Community Hospital, as her condition became progressively worse. The singer has been reportedly ill ever since her outburst last year, when Beyonce Knowles had sung her signature song, At Last at the inaugural ball for President Barack Obama.
Donto James said that the doctors at the hospital were planning to soon discharge Etta James and put her in a skilled nursing facility for follow up carw, even though he himself wasn't sure that she was well enough to be released.
