There are a number of bands, which have agreed to play in the rock concert for charity. One member of the group, hosting the event, Sushma Dewan said, “In House Project, Flat 5th, J. Hola, Beyond The Unseen, Sahadev Lama (Reincarnation), Bipul Chettri (Wildfire and Asaar), Sonam Sherpa (Parikrama) and Anmol's collective are bands and artists that have agreed to play in the concert.”
The tickets cost Rs 500 and Rs 1000, out of which the normal tickets costing Rs 500 have almost been sold out, with more than a week to go. While, the VIP tickets priced at Rs 1000 are yet to be sold out. The tickets are available at Black and White Shop, Humayunpur Chowk, Safdarjung Enclave, New Delhi. The entire proceedings of the rock concert would be used for kidney transplant. More the number of audiences in the crowd, the better for the cause, as it would help in increasing funds for Ashish. The auditorium is said to hold around 500 people.
The present condition of Ashish is also not that great, where he has to face problems every now and then. Ranju said, “Everyday, he faces new problem or the other – allergies, severe headache etc. Sometimes, he cannot even go to sleep.” Ashish has been suffering from 25th June 2013. Till date, more than 3.5 lakh rupees have already been used for his dialysis with support from family members.
So, what assumes importance is whether the amount collected from the concert would be enough for transplant? But, the sad fact remains, it would still not be sufficient. Ranju Moktan, elder sister of the patient said, “I am at least expecting two lakhs from the concert”. But, there are chances that the concert would provide Ashish with more than two lakhs. “Through our concert, we should be able to contribute more than three lakhs for the transplant.” said Sushma.
There were a number of challenges faced by the group of 20, which evenly comprises of males and females. “We had sponsors for the event, but they backed out, so we are still on the lookout for other sponsors,” said Sushma. But, this did not hold the group back. In fact, they shelled out money from their own pockets, as it was for a good cause and they were eager to improve the quality of Ashish's life. The cost of booking the auditorium took Rs 29,000 and other miscellaneous expenses related to the concert has increased to Rs 45,000. The group treats Ashish as their own brother or son.
Irrespective of the money that would be collected form the concert, Ranju, Ashish's sister is lost for words when asked - what does this support from the group mean to her? She said, “I want to thank each and every person from the group who has supported this cause. I know some of them, but the way they have gone ahead with their support has left me proud. Very few people would have taken such a step – to fund for Ashish. I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart.”
