Romney crushes Gingrich in Florida in race to Republication nomination
In the latest contest, Romney has crushed any resistance that came from Gingrich, giving a sign that former Massachusetts governor is all poised to be a leader in the Republication nomination race.

MITT ROMNEY’S ferocious style and deep resources seem to be an ideal combination to stop all chances of Barack Obama’s second term in the White House. Tumbling principal rival Newt Gingrich, Romney won a decisive victory in the Florida primary on Tuesday night – a win that has put him on his path to the race for the Republican presidential nomination.

According to Washington Post, the victory, his second of the year to go along with two defeats, gives the former Massachusetts Governor much-needed momentum as the GOP contest moves west for Saturday’s Nevada caucuses. Romney is strongly favored to repeat his victory in 2008 when he had contested for Republican nomination.

As the audience cheered, a jubilant Romney criticised Obama for his ‘dismal’ record on economy and alleged that he (Obama) chose to follow, instead of leading. “Leadership is about taking responsibility, not making excuses,” he said. “Mr. President, you were elected to lead. You chose to follow. Now it’s time for you to get out of the way,” the paper reported.

He also took a dig at the Democrats who he believed must be thinking that primary campaign will divide them. “And when we gather here in Tampa seven months from now for our convention, ours will be a united party with a winning ticket for America,” he said.

Added to his style, Romney’s resources have been seeing him through in all the contests. His campaign on television spent more than $11 million while rival Gingrich stood at less than $2 million. Also, two-thirds of the ads were negative attacks aimed at ‘poor’ Gingrich.

Men, women, college degree-holders, without a degree and people of all age–groups voted for Romney, a concern for his rivals in the next contests. And if the papers are to be believed he is seen as the candidate with a sound moral character and that is winning him votes in many constituencies.

He has cast himself as the candidate who can solve the economic peoblems of the country that are only increasing by the day. His financial expertise is his USP and that could earn him a place in the White House, and the way he is trouncing his rivals in the caucuses must has set the alarm bells ringing in many of his rivals’ offices.
