Ronen pulls all of his material from funny real life situations that have happened to him, and while that can mean that he's totally exposed and vulnerable when on stage, it's that kind of genuine disclosure that has helped the audience to relate to him. When asked about his calling as a comedian, Ronen's answer is personal but surprisingly simple: "All my life I noticed I was the funny guy in my group of friends, always find in life funny situations. I think self-humor is a must. I laugh a lot about my life."
So, knowing that Ronen is humble about his incredible achievements, it's necessary to seek out insights about his success from those who have worked alongside him. Tony Sparks, often called 'The Godfather of San Francisco Comedy' notes: Ronen's "ability to engage with the audience" as "incredible," adding that he himself can't recall seeing "someone who can connect so easily to other people on stage. He's gifted with a great tone of voice that keeps the audience in listening mode, so this is one of his rare qualities.
It helps too that Ronen's material is specified to his incredibly unique set of life-experiences only someone such as him, with a rare blend of x-factor stage presence and relatable comedic talent, can make fun of with ease. Ronen, who is recently divorced, makes light of his situation and sees it as a blessing for how it has encouraged him to continue his success in other countries, away from his old life. "Divorce is a hard thing to go through, it's like getting out from the amazon as... now after I got out of there I feel I can get out of anything...I Have no fear of any commitment… I'm finally ready to join Verizon."
Audiences too particularly enjoy the way Ronen pokes fun at his dating life and the search for love. In one of his popular jokes, he says: "I was wondering a little bit about my life so I went to the fortune teller and asked her: Do you see something in your crystal ball? And she's like, 'I see that you'll get into a serious relationship with a rich, successful, intelligent woman.' And I'm like: Is she gonna be my wife?. 'NO, your psychologist'."
Famed American comedian Alex Elkin, who performed a set alongside Ronen at the Simpson Bar and Grill in Washington and was the Champion of the 2016 San Francisco Comedy Competition, explains why he thinks Ronen is extraordinary at his job: "Because he is able to come to a completely different country from his own, learn the language and ALSO the culture to be able to make comedic observations that are relatable to a native audience. To me, this shows extreme intelligence and diligence in the craft of comedy."
The show at the Simpson, helmed by celebrated MTV 'Alice N' Kickin' producer Morgan Preston, connected with large numbers of people and gave further credence to Ronen's wave of success as a multi-disciplined performer.
While he might be as sought after as the best in the business, Ronen's motivation for doing comedy is admirably authentic. "My love and my passion for being on stage are so big as I want to do that all the time. I'm an artist in my soul. I think I was born to create and give a new perspective of life to other people. on top of that, I love to make other people laugh. I love doing what I'm doing and that's the most important thing."
