Rory McIlroy comparison with Tiger Woods too early

After Rory McIlroy's splendid victory in the 2011 U.S. Open, Tiger Woods said that Rory's golf swing is better than his swing when he was at his age. People around the world have started to compare Rory with Tiger Woods now. Is it fair?

RORY MCILROY, a golf player from Northern Ireland has been grabbing headlines all over the world as he has been playing high quality golf since he became a professional player on the circuit in 2007. The great Tiger Woods has also come out in the open and said that Rory McIlroy’s golf swing is very good at this early stage of his career. He felt that his golf swing was not that perfect at Rory’s age. Rory is presently 22 years old.

When someone of Tiger Woods stature says something like this, then the whole world stands up and takes notice. The media has already started comparing the two players. Rory McIlroy is being looked upon as the next best thing in the Golf world. Tiger Woods has already achieved a lot in his career. It would take a lot of hard work and determination to reach to that level. Can the new boy in town, Rory McIlroy replicate Tiger’s feat?

If we compare these two players when they were 22 years old, we may be able to draw a decent comparison between the two. But still, McIlroy's future in the circuit remains uncertain - as to how many titles will he win in the future? At the age of 22, Woods had already achieved a world ranking of number one, along with many victories such as 3 US Amateur titles, NCCA winner and a Masters champion too. On the other hand, Rory McIlroyhas only won two titles, European Amateur Championship, and the 2011 U.S. Open Champion. McIlroy has just recently attained his highest ranking of World number three, and is yet to climb to the number one spot.

The comparison does not hold any such significance as Tiger is past his prime and the new boy from Northern Ireland is still learning. It would not be fair if golf experts around the world take a call either for or against Rory McIlroy. Comparison may be drawn in due course of time when he has proved himself like Tiger has done to the rest of the world.
