'Roshni' for special kids in Noida
Roshni is a center for special kids in Noida, an initiative by Pushpsiksha, an NGO. It is a center for evaluation and management of children with neurological disabilities amongst economically weaker sections of society. The center operates from BR Ambedkar Multispeciality District Hospital sector-30, Noida.
Children with Neurological impairment and disabilities are treated and guided at Roshni. Dr. Rekha Mittal, a pediatric neurologist, who works with Max hospital in Noida
is a volunteer with the NGO and also conducts neuro-evaluation of the children. Children suffering with anomalies or damage of the nervous system, which could occur before, during or after birth, are taken care of by the NGO.
The program, which is being run in association with Dr BR Ambedkar Multi Specality Disrtict Hospital, takes care of children ranging from infants to 12-year-olds, and they are provided with various tests and therapy. Dr. Rekha Mittal, sits twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays at Dr BR Ambedkar Multi Specality Disrtict Hospital, and does the basic tests to the special children such as neuro-evaluation, EEG, BERA, VEP etc.
The Pushpsiksha team takes care of the Occupational therapy and Psycho therapy sessions of the children, and does it free of cost. For further treatment, they refer patients to hospitals, where they are treated at low cost. The team also guides children above 5 years age group about special schools for them.
“We have started this NGO to help the special children from economically weaker sections of society. They don't even know about their problem, so we assist them and also try to provide basic treatment to children,” said Dr. Rekha Mittal.
