RTI activist and merinews.com's CJ Subhash Agrawal appointed as an advisor to Delhi Government
Guinness Record holder RTI activist Subhash Agrawal has been appointed as an advisor in the Delhi Government ensure better implementation of the Right to Information (RTI) Act in the administrative machinery.
In his new role Agrawal
will provide guidance and training on provisions of the RTI Act, 2005
to all PIOs/First Appellate Authorities under the Delhi
during his one-year tenure. He will also be working with the
Administrative Reforms Department and will suggest ways and means for
better implementation of the RTI Act.
In a mail to merinews.com,
Agrawal said, “I feel honoured on being appointed as consultant to
government by Honourable Lt Governor of Delhi. It will be my endeavor
to make Delhi government and its sub-ordinate public-authorities
amongst the best-rated public-authorities to respond to RTI
He added, “I with my own experience am aware of
several shortcomings with Delhi government and its other associated
public-authorities in handling RTI petitions, and those of course
will be tried to be removed. I will also contact former and existing
Central Information Commissioners dealing with petitions filed at CIC
in respect of public-authorities concerning Delhi government and
other related public-authorities for their valuable feedback to
improve the system.”
Agrawal said that he would also take care of
difficulties faced by officers in handling RTI petitions at Delhi
government and sub-ordinate offices.
“My appointment endorses deep commitment of
Honourable Lt Governor of Delhi Shri Najeeb Jung for service to
people of Delhi also by inducing maximum possible transparency in
governance,” said Agrawal.
