The National Campaign for People's Right to Information (NCPRI) is organizing the National RTI convention from Feb. 16- 18 in Hyderabad. United Forum for RTI Campaign (UFRTI) is co-hosting it. It is an important meeting to take stock of the RTI scenario across the country and build a stronger movement to protect the act. About 300 activists from across the country will be part of the convention.
On the first day, there will be an internal NCPRI meeting to restructure the organization and strengthen the national RTI movement. On the second day, Plenary sessions followed by breakout sessions on various issues of importance like Sec 4(1)(b), commissions, movements and women's issues etc would be held. The theme of each breakout session is 'from transparency to accountability.
On the third day, a public meeting will be held on RTI at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram, Baghlingampally (from 10am to 12.30pm). This will be followed by field visits to witness a social audit on NREGS. The venue for the meeting is AMR-APARD, Rajendranagar.
