Toilet is a common basic need for every passenger in the train. Without it passengers including women and children have to face many difficulties in answering call of nature.
The matter will be taken up before National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
Earlier, the PIO of East Coast Railways had said that 18 passenger trains are running, in which some of the coaches are without toilet. According to Eastern Railway there are 58 such trains in Eastern Railway Coaches.
And North Western Railway authority has said that 22 trains are running in their zone with a single toilet fitted for all coaches.
It is to be noted that, in December 2013, Akhand had filed a petition before the NHRC to issue order to Railways to eliminate conventional and direct discharge toilets in the train coaches.
For the first time Railways had assured to eliminate production of such toilets by 2021-22.
