IT IS satisfying to note that fresh FIRs have been lodged in the Ruchika Girotra case to effectively grill the culprits. But the system can never reform unless accountability for lapses is also fixed on political rulers.

Several former Chief Ministers and Home Ministers in Haryana are equally guilty to assist, patronise or shield the main culprit SPS Rathore by not assenting action against him at various stages of the Ruchika Girotra case. Rather, these political rulers promoted the tainted police officer, apart from decorating him with police medals.

FIRs should also be lodged against all such former Chief Ministers, Home Ministers who are found guilty of not approving action against SPS Rathore and/or promoting or rehabilitating him at other posts. Haryana government should bring a white-paper to expose the black deeds of such former Chief Ministers and Home Ministers of the state. It becomes necessary because some of these political rulers are claiming otherwise than being highlighted in media.
