Central government has recommended stripping of a police medal bestowed on SPS Rathore in 1985, for exemplary police service. This move has been welcomed by various sections of society particularly those fighting for justice for Ruchika.
LAW’S LONG hands spares none-it is a common proverb we hear in movies and court proceedings, given fate of certain high profile legal cases it has once again proved its worth. . The sensational Nitish Katara murder case in which politician and criminal DP Yadav’s son Vikas Yadav was convicted and Manu Sharma, son of a heavyweight Congress leader from Haryana Vinod Sharma was convicted for killing promising model Jessica Lal, are some of the high profile cases that hogged the media limelight and attracted public ire but were finally landed in the long hands of law.
Now there is another high profile legal case that has joined the embarrassing league-influential but in the clutches of law-Ruchika Girhotra molestation case involving former DGP of Haryana SPS Rathore. Central government has recommended stripping of a police medal bestowed on Rathore in 1985, for exemplary police service.
Complainant in the case Madhu Prakash welcomed the decision of the government to strip the police medal from the convicted former police officer. Speaking to newspersons from Chandigarh, the mother of Ruchika’s friend Aradhna said, "The decision to withdraw police medals of convicted officers is a very good step of the Centre and I am very happy on it. A ray of hope has arisen due to this decision." Aradhna’s father also welcomed the praiseworthy step of the government. Madhu Prakash further added, “My struggle to get justice for Ruchika and her family has started showing results. I am hopeful that our case against former Haryana DGP S P S Rathore will soon reach its logical end.”
Let us hope Centre’s decision to strip convicted officer of police medal will send a strong message to crook politicians and government officers who think they are above the law and can use it for their filthy interests.
