Media which is the fourth pillar of democracy and is responsible to provide accurate news and views to the common man seems to have become business minded. All the media houses are fighting to increase their TRPs rather than providing accurate news.
MEDIA IS the eye and ear of the masses and as such has a duty to be neutral, but nowadays, media has turned to be another business and a source to earn profits and play with the sentiments of the public. Every media house has its own rules and regulations. They have their own distinctive policies. It is generally seen that the same news story is shown with different angles by news channels because of the policies, which guide them.
Electronic media provide facts, that they want to and only to make their news interesting and sound truthful. They use their reach and ability to mould, motivate and create public opinion.
But electronic media professionals are always in a hurry. They always try to air or broadcast news, incidents or any major development in their respective channel faster than any other news channel due to which they commit silly mistakes. It is also due to the craving for highest TRPs (Target Rating Points).
Even the most inhuman and cruel activities like ‘terrorist attacks’ have been covered differently and presented in different forms by media for the sake of business, which directly means that this source is selling public emotions and feelings to make money. Speed is not an issue for live news channels however, accuracy is. They have to be accurate along with time and speed. Several news channels have come under severe criticism because of their inaccurate news.
