THE WORLD is eagerly awaiting Sachin Tendulkar's monumental achievement of completing 17000 runs in one day cricket. India’s batting legend Sachin Tendulkar is now just 79 runs behind the milestone. Ahead of the Nagpur ODI, Tendulkar was 83 runs short of the milestone. However, the Mumbai Maestro could manage only four runs before rookie Peter Siddle snared him in Nagpur.

Sachin, who was also the first batsman to complete 10,000 runs, is not only the highest ever run getter in ODIs, but also has the maximum number of centuries (44) to his name. He scored 16,921 runs in 432 ODI at an average of 44.29. Sachin started his ODI career in 1989 against arch rival Pakistan. On the other hand he is the highest ever run getter in the world of test cricket. In tests Sachin scored 12,773 runs on an average of 51.63. It’s includes 42 centuries and 53 half centuries.

Tendulkar will complete two decades at the highest level on November 15, since he made his debut against Pakistan in 1989. There's a little more time for Tendulkar's 20 years. But first he is nearing the tally of 17,000 runs in ODIs.

Let's hope he reaches 17,000 runs milestone in New Delhi on Saturday where India meets Australia for the third of the seven-match ODI series.
