Sachin Tendulkar, who will be playing his 172nd match against New-Zealand, will look to reach half-century mark in making centuries in test cricket. He could become the only batsman to achieve this feat.
At present he has 49 centuries in 171 matches in his kitty. He is the leading batsman in test cricket followed by Australian captain Ricky Ponting having made 39 centuries in 148 matches and South-African all-rounder Jacques Kallis with 35 centuries in 140 matches.Recently, Sachin Tendulkar won the LG People’s Choice and Cricketer of the Year award in ICC Award Ceremony held at Bengaluru.
Rahul Dravid too will be playing his 145th match in the same series against New-Zealand. He could be setting a new record of 200 catches in test catches. As of now his score is of 198 catches in 144 test matches, a feat not achieved by any other fielder. He is just 2 catches away to set a new record.
He is also just 352 runs away to reach the milestone of 12,000 runs in test cricket. He will also become the third player in international cricket to achieve this number of runs in test cricket with Sachin Tendulkar at 14240 runs in 177 test matches and Australian Captain Ricky Ponting with 12250 runs in 148 test matches.
