Sachin Tendulkar and his love for cars
Many people are aware about Sachin Tendulkar's passion for cars, but he never talked about it in the open. However, during the recent Autocar India Awards 2013 ceremony, held at the Hotel Taj Lands in Mumbai, we got to see the different side of the player, who in the presence of media talked about his love for cars.

THE INDIAN star, in this NNIS video said, “The love and passion for cars started when I was eight or nine-years-old living in Bandra East. Just behind our building, there was a drive-in theater and people would come and park there. That was the time I would stand in the balcony and look at all the cars and imagine one day I should have a car of my own.”

Being born and brought up in one of the most developed cities, Mumbai helped Tendulkar in gradually developing the love for cars. Mumbai was one of the first cities in India to boast of luxury cars.

Gone are the days when Tendulkar would only dream of owning those cars, as he has driven a number of luxurious cars till date. Maruti 800 is said to be one of his first cars. He has been a proud owner of luxurious cars such as Mercedes Benz C36, Ferrari 360 Modena Spyder and also Porsche Boxer. It was the success in the game of cricket, which helped him receive cars as man of the series awards.

Tendulkar has been a big car fan and his love for F1 is known to all, as he does make an attempt to watch F1 races live from the venues during his spare time. He has been spotted at many F1 races. He said, “I also read a lot of magazines, watched TV programmes (about automobiles) and also been to F1 races.”

Tendulkar is good friends with F1 champion, Michael Schumacher, who gifted him 360 Modena Ferrari. He is also said to have met the F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone during the Indian Grand Prix, 2011, which he flagged off.
