WORLD RECORD of highest aggregate run in Test cricket is back home again. Sachin Tendulkar added another, long due world record in his book of records by surpassing Brian Lara’s 11,953 runs in Test cricket today (October 17). His record-breaking run came of Siddle’s over in first innings of second Test of ongoing India-Australia Test series on the very first delivery, after tea break. Before the start of the second Test, Tendulkar needed just 15 runs to create this history.

Brian Lara scored 11,953 runs in 232 innings of 131 Tests with an average of 52.89. He scored 34 centuries and 48 half-centuries, remaining not out 6 times. Lara holds the world record of highest individual score of 400 not out. Sachin took 247 innings of 152 Tests to break Lara’s record. Sachin made 11,939 runs in 246 innings of 151 Tests with an awesome average of 54.02, before the ongoing test. He remained not out 25 times. Sachin holds world record of 39 centuries in Test cricket. He made 49 half centuries and his highest score is 248 not out.

Referred to as the ’little master’ or the ’master blaster’, Sachin is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket. Wisden ranked him the second greatest Test batsman of all time next to Sir Donald Bradman, and the second greatest ODI batsman of all time next to Sir Viv Richards.
