SACHIN TENDULKAR added one more feather to his glittering cricketing career spanning two decades on Friday. The batting maestro was honoured with Indian Air Force’s honorary rank of Group Captain. Considering Sachin Tendulkar’s remarkable achievements in sporting world, the honorary rank aptly fits the bill. Another cricket legend, Kapil Dev has already donned the Army uniform. Kapil was inducted into the Territorial Army in the year 2008 as Lieutenant Colonel. On being conferred with the honorary Group Captain rank, Sachin described the moment as one of the best of his life, he told reporters "It is indeed a great honour that I have been considered for honorary Group Captain in the IAF. As an Indian I am proud to be associated with the dynamic force and I shall do my very best to be brand ambassador for the force," he said. Spokesman from the IAF said Sachin will be our brand ambassador and his association will inspire youngsters to explore Indian Air Force as a career and serve the nation. Hats off to you Sachin on assuming this new role.
