It seems that nothing can stop the run-machine who has dedicated his life and soul to cricket. Adjectives and metaphors would fall short to aptly define this little master who seems to have developed an endless hunger to score runs.
GWALIOR'S CAPTAIN Roop Singh Stadium, became witness to the ‘Second Coming’ of the God of Cricket- Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. Sachin has proved time and again why he is regarded as the best cricketer of his time, and February 24, 2010 would be remembered in the history for his fabulous double ton in ODI.
The little master weaved a magical web with his immaculate batting display against South Africa that fetched him and the world the very first double ton in an ODI. It was one of the most awaited feats that eventually came from the blade of master blaster- the world's most prolific batsman, who has under his name the most runs and centuries than anyone in both Test and one-day cricket. The record of a double ton in an ODI match came into close proximity many a times in world cricket, but eventually it was Sachin who broke the jinx- and that too in style. His double ton came in just 147 balls flooded with 25 fours and three massive sixes.
The Proteas have a decent bowling attack, but Sachin just toyed with the bowling, making it look just a mediocre attack. Such is the mastery of this genius from Mumbai. The cricket lovers across the world are overwhelmed with Sachin’s achievement and the debate has also gained momentum on who is the world’s greatest batsman! No matter what conclusions are drawn, but one thing is for sure- Sachin is in a league of his own. It seems that nothing can stop the run-machine who has dedicated his life and soul to cricket. Adjectives and metaphors would fall short to aptly define this little master who seems to have developed an endless hunger to score runs and keep on mesmerizing the world with his brilliance. Another great cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar has no hesitation in proclaiming that Sachin is the greatest batsman the game has ever seen. Even Don Bradman viewed himself in Sachin when he said- “Sachin reminds me of myself.” India is a cricket crazy nation and Sachin enjoys the status of a God. His consistent performance spanning over 20 long years has not only earned him an immortal status in Indian hearts but he has created a fan following across the globe. What more can a cricketer strive to achieve in his career? Sachin Tendulkar transcends all such landmarks that a great cricketer would love to have mentioned against his name. The Tendulkar juggernaut has broken cricketing records of all hues, while consistently setting new benchmarks and has risen head and shoulders above the others- present and past. For any cricketer, Sachin is the perfect role model. He was considered as a precocious talent, who in the course of his scintillating career, metamorphosed himself into a cricketing phenomenon for the world to believe that there is something supernatural in him. Before Sachin, people used to watch cricket because they loved it, but when Sachin came to the cricketing horizon, the whole idea of watching the game got catapulted. Now, people watch cricket for the genius called Sachin. Sachin has carried the burden of a cricket crazy nation for 20 long years and the nation hopes that he keeps on mesmerizing the cricket world and bringing pride to the country endlessly. There have been times that critics have pinned him down when he has not been able to match his own standards, but every time he has bounced back with his bat doing the talking. Sachin is definitely in the twilight of his career, but the way he is performing one could imagine where this run machine will reach when the quit date arrives. A player of Sachin’s stature is born once in a lifetime, and we are privileged to have been born in the era when Sachin played. We should be thankful to God to have given the world an ultimate gem in the form of Tendulkar. He is the Kohinoor of cricket who will keep on dazzling for times to come. A great player like Sachin Tendulkar is born once in a century, and in all likelihood we are not going to find another Sachin in our lifetime- so let’s sit back and enjoy the heroics of this magician! Sachin is definitely the God of big things!

Just because Ussain bolt wins by fraction of seconds does not make him inferior to his peers. Same way, just because Bradman had 99.5 average does not make him greatest. I am very well aware that cricket is not like atheletics and there are many other factors such as quality of opposition (particularly bowlers and fielders). In any case from when averages have become the greatest criteria to judge the batsmen? In my list sunil gavaskar is the best because he had to face the most fearsome bowlers of all times.
