Sachin's comment irks Balasaheb Thackeray
While addressing a media conference on Friday, Sachin Tendulkar had said,'Mumbai belongs to all Indians. I am a Maharashtrian and am extremely proud of that. But I am an Indian first.' The senior Thackeray advised Tendulkar to refrain from politics.

EVEN THE cricket maestro Sachin Tendulkar is not spared by egotistical politicians, who don’t let go of any opportunity to emotionally blackmail the Marathi poplace. The master blaster has come in the line of fire for his comments directed towards the Shiv Sena and MNS brand of politics.

While addressing a media conference on Friday, November 13, in Mumbai, organised to mark two decades of the cricket genius in cricket, Sachin was asked to comment on the Marathi manush concept. He had said “Mumbai belongs to all Indians. I am a Maharashtrian and am extremely proud of that. But I am an Indian first.”

The statement hogged the limelight, both in print as well as visual media and was applauded by one and all. “The most important moment of my life was the day I got my India cap (on November 15,1989 in Karachi). I was on cloud nine. It was a moment I have dreamt for,” the legend added further.

The comment irked Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray, who criticised it, in his party’s mouthpiece “Saamna”. The senior Thackeray criticised Sachin for taking an unnecessary stance on the issue. He also advised Tendulkar to refrain from politics, commenting that the cricketer should concentrate on his career.

“He should not plunge into politics”, added the senior the senior Thackeray.

The senior Thackeray's party fortunes have dipped recently. In the recently concluded Maharashtra assembly polls, Shiv Sena faired badly as it lost its popularity among its traditional voters. His nephew Raj Thackeray, on the other hand, gained in these voter pockets and won 13 assembly seats.

.We are all true Indians and there is nothing wrong in saying that. Baal Thakare should understand that we are not pakistani that we would feel proud to say that we are Indian. Instead of advising Sachin to concentrate on Cricket (which he has done for 20 long years with success), Baal should himself concentrate on his party and motive..

Hi Sachin, thanks for showing your concern, YES WE ARE INDIAN first, politicians are playing with the emotions of the people to gain political mileage, still we are around Bangladesh and Burma in the human development index, because of these self centric politicians.......bye...
.Even in a 100 lifetimes Bal Thakeray will not be able to do what Sachin Tendulkar has done for India in his single lifetime so far.
