YEDDYURAPPA FAVOURITE D V Sadananda Gowda was sworn in as the next Karnataka Chief Minister by Governor HR Bhardwaj at around 4.30 pm at Raj Bhavan in Bangalore. The arch rival Shettar camp was in a defiant mood ever since the elections results were announced, though they have been keeping a low profile, and expectedly skipped the swearing in ceremony.
Gowda’s predecessor, the tainted BS Yeddyurappa was seen backing Gowda for a long time as the potential candidate for the post of the Chief Minister for the past few days. Yeddy’s dream was realised when Gowda defeated Shettar in a secret ballot voting, which was held at the legislature party meeting on Wednesday.
Accompanying the sore Shettar on Thursday morning at his residence for breakfast were a few MLAs who charted out where he fell short and lost the election to Gowda. The Home Transport Minister R Ashoka was quoted saying by a leading Indian daily that there are different reasons for Shettar's defeat. However, he refused to get into the details but added that he along with K S Eshwarappa, another Chief Minister aspirant backed Shettar apart from the fifty odd MLAs who too had extended their support.
With the ouster of Yeddyurappa from the Chief Minister’s office, he said that he will be an ordinary worker of the ruling BJP wheras, Gowda will have all the liberties.
